About the Product Recall

MerchSource, in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting a mandatory recall of the Sharper Image UV Sanitizing Portable Wand, and providing a refund based on the price paid by the consumer as indicated on the purchase receipt.

SHARPER IMAGE UV SANITIZING PORTABLE WAND

The Sharper Image UV Sanitizing Portable Wand is a sanitizing tool using UV light to disinfect surfaces from harmful bacteria.

MSRP: $39.99

Hazard: Exposure to unsafe levels of radiation.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and complete the form below to obtain a refund.

Incidents/Injuries: There have been no reported incidents of unsafe levels of radiation exposure from consumers, but the FDA has determined that this product allows for the emission of ultraviolet (UV) electronic product radiation in excess of exposure limits recommended the International Commission on Non-ionizing Radiation Protection. There have been no reported injuries.

Procedure

  1. A. IF YOU HAVE THE PRODUCT: Immediately discontinue use of the product and place the product and purchase receipt in a box or padded envelope large enough that it can be sealed.
    B. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DISPOSED OF THE PRODUCT: Place your purchase receipt in an envelope.
  2. Fill out the form below. If you are unable to fill out this form, please call us toll-free at 800-813-8762 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT or email with the heading “SHARPER IMAGE RECALL” to recall@merchsource.com.
  3. You will receive an email confirmation and instructions for submitting your proof of purchase online within 5 business days (one week).
  4. Once your proof of purchase is validated, you will receive an email confirmation with a FedEx return shipping label within 10 business days (two weeks) of your submission of your proof of purchase. Please make a note of the FedEx Tracking Number, as it will allow you to document your return and to confirm when we have received the return.
  5. Print the label and affix the label to the outside of the box or envelope containing the purchase receipt and (if available) the product.
  6. Drop off the package at any facility where FedEx picks up.
  7. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your refund check to arrive.

Refund Amounts

We will refund the purchase price of the product you are returning, as indicated on the purchase receipt. In order to receive this refund, the purchase receipt must be included in the return package.
